Re-thinking the Identity of a British seaside town

Have been crazy busy for the past 3 months and so miss blogging. Thank you to those who still continued to visit this site and leave comments while I took a break from blogland. Am now back, refreshed, renewed, excited and ready to post more inspirational stuff I find, starting with this jolly eye-candy piece entitled "Re-thinking the Identity of a British seaside town". Absolutely love it!!

New Year, New Inspirations

Happy New Year and welcome back to Laissezfaire! Hope everyone had a good break from whatever you usually do and got to spend some quality time with family and friends! I know this sounds cliche but I can't believe it is 2009! It really seems like yesterday we just celebrated the turn of the century.

I will kick start the new year here at laissezfaire by sharing some amazing places and inspiring work I recently discovered. Top of the list has got to be the lyrical work by Russian Graphic artist Yulia Brodskaya. My jaws dropped when I first came across her work at Oh Joy.
I also came across these lovely handcrafted menus at The Casual Poet, a little store-cum-coffee shop in Singapore which sells a nicely curated selection of books, t-shirts, stationery, and other wonderful creative goods.
And if you are still looking for calender for the new year, this would be perfect! You can even personalise the calendar to include your "logo".

Wall Calander

Watch winter turn to spring with this for a wall calendar by architecture duo at StokkeAustad. I imagine the leaf-like tags are like sticky tapes that you remove as the year goes by and the colour of the wall changes to reflect the 4 seasons. (above) The whole year in colour. New patterns by Jessica Jones

Jessica of Jessica Jones Design emailed me recently to let me know that she has restocked her etsy shop with lots of patterned goodies--like cool mousepads for $10 and postcard sets for $6. Many of these will make nice for stocking stuffers and affordable gifts for Christmas.

The fabric used in the tote bags are from her new collection. They are available by the yard here for anyone who wants to make their own:

thanks for letting me know, Jessica. Keep up the gorgeous work!

Cool Cards

I have been swamped with work and nursing a cold this week, hence the lack of the usual dosage of inspiration at laissezfaire. I really dislike being sick. My mind doesn't seem to be working and something which usually takes me a minute to complete takes forever! =(

Will be off to Melbourne for a week tomorrow and hopefully I would have recovered by then. I am really looking forward to checking out the cool sights and smell of this fabulous city. Will definitely keep everyone posted on any inspirational findings there. If you know of a place I shouldn't miss, do dearly let me know!

Meanwwhile, I leave you with some cool business cards I found at Fubiz e. (via Designer's Block). Signing off back to bed...xoxo

A Personal Injury Warning System

Designed by Jonathan Corum of 13pt, the Personal Injury Warning System consists of symbols that illustrates all the injury that Jonathan has received in his life to date. Each symbol is indexed by the date that he would have benefitted from such a warning. Do check out his interesting website!I think perhaps this First Aid Talking Kit would come in handy for someone like Jonathan. This kit is separated into individually labeled and color-coded injury packs so the user has all the supplies and easy to follow instructions for managing a specific injury. By the touch of a button, the kit narrates step-by-step instructions to manage the injury, pausing and repeating when necessary for accurate response. (via petit elefant)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!!!! I'mmmm BACK! It feels great to have taken a short break from blogging and to return all inspired and excited! Thank you for those who continued to visit while I was away! As you can see, I have given this little blog a small facelift with a brand new banner!

I will kick start the new year with some cool wallpaper I found via sub-studio.
